Teething problems

We encountered some problems yesterday.......what a time....I was running late for a spiritual formation session at night and just before that I happened to look up at the corner of the kitchen...........paint peeling from wall and water leaking behind into the cupboard. Well, it was a cupboard that didn't have much stuff - just a few plates. I knew that today (Friday) I would be leaving early for Ipoh to assist in a retreat where my friend is the speaker. Slight anxiety.....as I realized everyone else would be out this morning in case the contractor could come to find out the source of the problem. I do get a bit worried about 'leaks' as they are internal and we can't just put on a 'band aid'......plus the couple of times we had the problem at my former house and the water just poured down from the ceilings, despite pails we put under to collect. I thought I could give him the keys - only thing is Sabbath would be home alone and I wonder how she would react to strangers when we are not around.......
Again, I am grateful that Vincent the contractor managed to drop by late last night to have a look at the inner damage...with the view of coming over today to work from the outside.
He reckoned it is not the roof...and most likely is a leaking pipe that runs all the way from the mains to the kitchen! Anyway, he has agreed to come over in the morning to try to rectify the problem from the outside.....am thankful for that. Such are the 'cares of the world' that we still have to deal with and work through - a good reminder of our embodied conditions - and how God invites us to meet him in the very midst of earthly life, in the midst of smooth and not so smooth times.
