Flowers and running water

At last, the two things I have been looking forward to have been set up. I picked up the water lily and sakura plants from the shop yesterday. They have been sitting there for two weeks, since my urn was not ready - gift from friends who purchased the plants for me. While there, I also picked up a water feature that consists of two shells pouring down water into a large basin. The sound of running water is very pleasant and makes my patio a great place to relax.
These two days, I have thankfully been able to 'enjoy' more of just sitting around and getting used to the different areas in the house. There's probably more touching up to be done, but for now, I will enjoy the break.
When I went back today to clear some things from my old place, I realize that I need to say 'goodbye' more intentionally......there are still heart strings moved when I go back there, although it is more or less empty now. Maybe I also need to feel and express gratitude for my home of twenty years.......and to let it now go to and bless the young couple just starting off. I believe the handing over might be sooner than the 'three months' period as banks are quite efficient these days in giving out loans.
My water lily plant is the type that blooms in the early hours of morning, then closes by afternoon....the sakura has a similar diurnal rhythm. Nature is a good teacher and reminder of the rhythms in our lives. There is the tendency in a productivity based culture to live as if every day and hour is the same - just to produce, to do. These plants tell us otherwise. They tell us that life is seasonal - being outwardly fruitful at certain times, but also allowing moments of 'non doing' and just resting, times that are just as important in one's life. Watching the plants' rhythm day by day will be healing for me, and help me grow more and more free from the compulsion to 'do'.
