Is it the flu?
It's been four days of fever for my younger son. He started with high fever on Saturday - slept through the whole day and only told me in the evening. I assumed that being 'nocturnal' creatures, young people likely sleep through the day when they are off on Saturdays. Anyway, the fever continued through Sunday - and for Naren, he is really sick when he can't even get up to attend to his computer and when he doesn't look for food! Monday, he had a blood test for dengue - it was negative, thankfully, but the blood result showed a non specific viral picture. The fever continued, and cough started as well. The past three nights brought back memories of when the children were young - when there were night feeds etc. This time it was getting up in the middle of the night to check on his fever and to give him panadol - that's all we could do in the face of an unknown viral fever. For this - I needed an alarm clock unlike those (younger) days when I thought I was 'superwoman"! No such illusions now. Today, the fever went away completely for certain periods and the panadol was only needed six hourly instead of four hourly. But a slight cough persists....and he is easily tired. The appetite is gradually improving - and he's been up at his computer.
Lately, with H1 N1 on the scene, I think almost everyone with symptoms of fever and cough are rightly cautious. We were wondering if he should be tested for it. But we'll see how things go tomorrow - and continue to pray for further improvement.
