Getting the connection

It is amazing what God uses to get our attention. Of course we know he uses the mundane, but we'd rather it not happen to us. I've been having problems with my Streamyx connection for a few days.......and each time it doesn't start, I just tell myself to be patient (or rather I give up) and try again the next day....which I do, usually quite late at night, and so on. Today it happened again and I decided to brace myself and call for 'technical' help. It takes at least five minutes on hold to get through - I am thankful - it has taken longer before. But the technician asked me to 'check' so many things, including my desktop and then connect my laptop directly to the modem. I was running back and forth between the phone and my laptop (now in another room where the modem is.....) In the end he probably ran out of things to try - so asked me to switch off everything and wait a while then restart and call back if the problem persists. When I call back it will be another person on the phone.....don't tell me I have to start explaining all over again!!
This I have not done yet, but instead got some 'time' using my son's laptop that usually uses someone else's unsecured wireless connection. My laptop being 'older' is not able to pick up that signal.
How often the 'line' between me and God gets interrupted. And while I may feel a bit frustrated at this end, I usually get on by getting distracted with other 'good' pursuits. It may not be the same at his end..........his longing for us, as we are reminded by the saints of the past, far exceeds ours - and in fact is the source of our (responsive) desire. Of course he does not coerce us to respond, but waits with open arms.......Imagine the loss for us when his 'signals' do not get through, when his quiet whispers are drowned by other voices. We may walk away and try out other pursuits that satisfy, but at the end of the day, like a bee drawn to nectar, we find ourselves switching back - giving our time and attention to the connection.....the one sure 'wireless' signal we truly desire.
Maybe I'll try again a little later.......my 'time' on the borrowed line is running out......
