Precious time

I am thankful that my schedule is so light this week, at least up to tomorrow. Last week, I was spending much of the in between (work, chores, meetings) time preparing for the Lent retreat. This week, is a much needed break and of course being able to visit Sabbath is important to me.
I actually enjoyed taking it slow these two mornings; after all I could only go to the vet after 10 am, when they open. The afternoons were also nap times, something I've missed for a few weeks.
Sabbath was better today - and they decided it was safe enough to take a blood sample for tests. So we'll have the results by tomorrow. Most important is to see if the blood cells (in particular red cells and platelets) are being replenished, after the episode of bleeding. If so, the iv drip could possibly be taken out.
These visits have been important to me. I spend the time feeding Sabbath, then cleaning her 'beard' with damp tissue (imagine how easily the canned food sticks!), and then just sitting with her, occasionally patting her head. These times have reminded me of how precious time is; especially living in the present moment. Often I live in the 'future', looking ahead to chores, meetings etc, in order to plan my schedule. This comes from over responsibility - and there's a fine line between being responsible and striving to control (in other words, not trusting God). So, such are the interruptions to one's order and plans, such is the time when grace is experienced.
