Revealed to babes

Luke 10 : 21 - 24
Being simple of heart is a grace. Sometimes, we make things too complicated for ourselves by too much analysis and reasonings. There is a place for that work but sometimes, it has to be placed aside to 'pay attention' to what is truly before us. Of course being simple hearted does not mean being naive and just glibly claiming to believe and trust. I've met people who do so, and I do not feel comfortable to share my own struggles with them. They seem to have got to the 'answer' too easily, too tidily, too quickly and bypassed the stages where real struggle exists.
The Lord has revealed things to 'babes' - not the naive, but those who are honest about their faith - I believe this includes questionings, doubts etc. In humility, being human, we do go through those stages. But being 'wise' is the more dangerous stance because human wisdom and reasonings leave no place for God's word to enter.
To 'see and hear' what the Lord wants us to is a gift. Jesus affirms his disciples who do 'see and hear' (even if not perfectly), so much more clearly than the self- important religious leaders.
Sometimes it is good to listen to those who come to faith in a simple manner. These are people who have developed a very intimate relationship with the Lord, in prayer, getting to know his heart and mind through personal experience, not largely through outside teaching. Indeed, they are 'blessed' like the disciples who learnt by following Jesus, watching him, being with him as he interacted with people, and lastly but not exclusively, listening to his teachings. Jesus reveals the Father to his chosen ones......and surely we hope to be among them.
