End time banquet

Isaiah 25 : 6 - 10
The Advent readings from the prophet Isaiah are very comforting as we 'wait'. We await the banquet of the end time, a feast not only for the body but one that brings wholeness and shalom; a joyous feast in the presence of God. As we 'wait' these words give us courage and new hope even through fears and insecurities. It helps us anticipate that which will truly satisfy our deepest yearnings. We all long for our heavenly home where "the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces".
The feast is spread on the mountaintop - the place where God symbolically dwells and where humankind's highest hopes and aspirations are found. To dwell on this mountain is to dwell with God...God-with-us...Emmanuel.
In this season of Advent, we are reminded once again that God does give the ultimate answer to all our human frailty....his very self, incarnate Son, Jesus.
His coming .....at one point in time, his presence with us in the meantime and his coming again at the end of time to feast with us.......grounds our faith.
