Slow start.....

These days it seems like everyone has got into the swing of the new year.....for me it is a slower start. I am grateful for that, and glad that I have not compulsively immersed myself into many activites. It of course feels 'good' to be able to tell others the list of what we have lined up. It is a bit embarassing to describe a slower pace of life - although it may be what the Lord calls us to.
I enjoy pottering about the house and there are many daily chores to attend to even though it is a small house. Add to that "Joy" our pup, and Sabbath our 'senior' dog and there is another delightful reason to be home as much as I can. Evenings are generally my times 'out' - either with locum at a clinic or attending some training sessions in spiritual companionship.
The gospel reading of the day (John 3: 22 - 30) reminded me that all things come from God, whether it is 'important' work or simple ordinary chores.....and that in all things it is the Lord who must "increase" . Whatever we do points to Jesus, not to ourselves. Neither is it our place to envy others when they are given tasks in the limelight, while we are called to step back. All our talents are 'gifts' to be placed at the Lord's disposal, in whatever way he directs.
