Humility

Luke 9: 46 - 50
Our desire to do our best works well most times but like anything good can be distorted by the evil one. Jesus' dear friends had demonstrated their faithfulness in following him, but their flawed humanity got the better of them. Their "kiasu-ness" led to an argument. Even the apparently good of seeking to do our best for God can lead to power struggles, whether hidden or manifested in outright arguments.
Humility - something to aspire towards and yet when we start assessing our level of 'humility' we lose it immediately. I suppose the only way is to ask God's grace to be self-forgetful, and to aspire to all things for his sake, not our own. We ask for the grace to empty out pride, envy, self seeking glory, vanity and possessiveness....empty vessels to be filled with his love (2 Cor. 4: 7)
