Yes and No
Simply "Yes" or "No"
This teaching of Jesus resonates clearly with me. It is always a great frustration for me to deal with people who are vague, who don't think twice about giving half answers.....and whose 'Yes' clearly is not honest. Lately, the draughtsman who has been helping to submit plans for my house renovation has behaved this way - no clear answers, when I ask about some omissions he made in the plans (they sent a letter to ask for some rectifications). This was a month ago - and up to now - still no clear answer when it will be done!! I have moved from being impatient to frustrated to angry to just shaking my head - at the inconsistencies of people. I guess it is just the simple lack of honesty and unwillingness to tell the truth about what's going on behind the scenes!!
Why is it so hard to be truthful and speak the truth?
Why is it so hard to be truthful and speak the truth?
An age old question, considering how our fore - parents Adam and Eve tried to cover up their wrongdoing!!
Instead of berating others (which can become a most absorbing self -righteous past time) I guess it is important to look at the self and how we can allow the truth of God to penetrate our mind and heart and form our conscience.
"People could not live with one another if there were not mutual confidence that they were being truthful to one another.....as a matter of honor, one person owes it to another to manifest the truth"
(Thomas Aquinas)
