New house

It has been such a long process since we decided to buy a new house - way back in November last year. Sometimes, I even 'forget' and go merrily along my way, not checking up on the progress of the sales and purchase agreement!! Well, at long last, the process has been finalised. I was given the keys of the house a couple of weeks ago.
Even after this, there will be many more months to go - the wait for DBKL approval for some renovations - then the renovations and only then.........will be be able to move.
The house is small but at least slightly more spacious than my present 20 year old apartment style townhouse. A friend asked me why I needed a bigger place as my children are actually grown up now. Well, at least for the next five years or so, I will have them around studying in college/local universities, and they will be bunking at home! I tell people that in a way, I am providing 'hostel' services for them. They will be out much of the time, yet, have their laundry done (no ironing 'service' though - they iron their 'formal' shirts minutes before going out) and (quite healthy) food available in the refrigerator for midnight snacks. There will also be more space for them to have friends to 'stay over'. At present we can manage only one friend at a time.
Apart from that, we feel the move to a single storey house will be a preparation for the future when knees give way and start to creak. I think I wouldn't have the energy to start looking for a house then. So, the wait is about half over. A few months more, and probably a few headaches with contractors over the renovations.....in fact, I have been chasing the draughtsman who has not fully submitted the plans yet due to all sorts of 'delays' (to get him moving, I have decided to go to DBKL with him tomorrow). Already have felt some stress in all this. But nevertheless, another opportunity for the Lord to chip away at more rough edges in my life.
