Sharing Christ

Luke 1: 39 - 56
The meeting of two pregnant women Mary and Elizabeth! I can imagine their joy and amazement as they met - in this case not only the joy of expectant motherhood but also the special babies in their wombs.
Something growing, something happening within them that needed to be shared to be more deeply embraced and appreciated. How much this reminds me of the sharing we do as Christians. In listening well we help one another discover what lies within, what grows within, and what will someday be birthed.
Many times, I would say, we need others to help us understand in a fuller way what the Lord is growing in us. Sometimes, our own view is narrow and we are unable to see the subtle changes that are taking place. In fact, we may at times be caught up with what seems to be hindering us. In pregnancy, the early 'morning sickness', and the later discomfort of feeling like a huge whale can sometimes blur the wonder and excitement of what is taking place.
It is always a special encounter when we connect with another person in this manner and draw out the best from each other. We learn to recognize the presence of Christ in another, just as they do in us. We share the growing seed of faith within us, the seed that is destined to grow into the fullness of life lived in Christ. True spiritual friends give this gift to one another.
