Journey towards silence

Quietness
Inside this new love, die.
Your way begins on the other
side.
Become the sky.
Take an axe to the prison wall.
Escape.
Walk out like someone
suddenly born into color.
Do it now.
You're covered with thick clouds.
Slide out the side.
Die, and be quiet.
Quietness is the surest sign
that you've died.
Your old life was a frantic
running from silence.
The speechless full moon
comes out now.
(Rumi)
Most of us frantically run from silence because it is precisely in the quiet depths that we meet parts of ourselves that we may not want to acknowledge....the pain, the anger, the envy, the shame, the malice....In the spaciousness of silence we learn to trust ourselves into God's embrace.....a welcoming 'home', a place marked with tenderness where we feel safe enough to surrender our deeply ingrained defenses. This is the place of transformation.
